The aim of the group, through the website, is to share all the volcanological scientific information regarding the eruptive activity and geochemical debates about Mount Etna as well as other active volcanoes all over the world. This scope is in agreement with the spirit of the pure scientific research in which the free confrontation of ideas and data is the sole valid approach to reach a better comprehension of the natural laws that rule the behaviour of a still poorly unexplained geological entities such as the active volcanoes.

	Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse (IGG) L'Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse si propone di studiare la Terra attraverso la sua evoluzione geologica per comprenderne gli equilibri futuri. Infatti, la realizzazione di modelli dei processi geologici fondamentali che avvengono alla superficie e nell'interno del nostro pianeta è il punto di partenza obbligato per mitigare i rischi naturali - terremoti, eruzioni vulcaniche, alluvioni - per prevedere e affrontare i cambiamenti globali, per esempio climatici, e per individuare le risorse naturali, compresa quindi anche l'energia geotermica, per uno sviluppo sostenibile. L'istituto esegue ricerche applicate nei campi della geotermia, dell'idrogeologia, della geologia e della geochimica ambientale e nel confinamento dei gas serra.
	Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia Costituito nel 1999, l'Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) raccoglie e valorizza le competenze e le risorse di cinque istituti già operanti nell'ambito delle discipline geofisiche e vulcanologiche: l'Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica; l'Osservatorio Vesuviano; l'Istituto Internazionale di Vulcanologia; l'Istituto di Geochimica dei Fluidi; l'Istituto per la Ricerca sul Rischio Sismico. L'INGV è nato con l'obiettivo di raccogliere in un unico polo le principali realtà scientifiche nazionali nei settori della geofisica e della vulcanologia.

Questa iniziativa nasce dal desiderio espresso da tutti i coordinatori dei Corsi di Laurea in Geologia d’Italia di far conoscere a chi vuole intraprendere gli studi universitari l’importanza e il ruolo delle Scienze della Terra nel nostro paese.
	Metamorphic and Igneous Geo-Petrology Group at the University of Catania The Metamorphic and Igneous Geo-Petrology Group (MeIGePeG) at the University of Catania (Italy) deals with a wide range of geologic research topics. It is also involved in different research projects. The team is composed by professors, researchers, post-doc fellows and Ph.D. students. The aim of the group is to solve those petrological problems linked to the genesis and evolution of igneous rocks, the structure and history of metamorphic rocks as well as their mutual relationships.
