The conference "The Colors of Cretaceous and Paleogene Oceans" is a tribute to the research career of Isabella Premoli Silva, from the very beginning characterized by an amazing mixture of rigor, curiosity and passion resulting in variegated and outstanding international projects, collaborations and publications on Cretaceous and Paleogene oceans. The meeting is intended to gather colleagues and friends that have had the opportunity to work with Isabella and share her scientific interests. Contributions are expected from senior scientists as well as from students. We anticipate to gather up to 80 scientists to participate in a mixture of oral and poster presentations during morning and afternoon sessions with lots of time for discussions in an informal setting. The evenings will be dedicated to science during Italian dinner followed by music and dances. EGU2010 - Session GMPV2 "Magma generation and differentiation: Field, analytical, experimental and numerical investigation of magmatic and volcanic systems"		Vienna (Austria)

This session invites contributions targeting the generation and differentiation of magmas in the mantle and crust from field studies, petrology, geochemistry (major and trace elements and isotopes), experimental petrology and thermodynamic and geochemical modeling. Magma chemistry sampled in plutonic and volcanic rocks reflect combinations of processes operating in their sources (e.g. metasomatism by fluids and melts, asthenospheric-, lithospheric- and 'exotic' mantle components as well as crustal melting and anatexis) and during differentiation from mantle depths to shallow level magma reservoirs and volcanic extrusions/explosions (e.g. fractional crystallization, assimilation, mixing/mingling, replenishment of magma reservoirs and chambers). The fundamental question to be addressed by this session is how igneous systems operate in different tectonic settings and what are the principal controls on primary, parental and derivative magma compositions. http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2010/home.html

VI Convegno Nazionale di Archeometria		Pavia

Dal 15 al 18 febbraio 2010 si svolgerà a Pavia il VI Convegno Nazionale di Archeometria (AIAr), organizzato dal Centro Interdipartimentale Studi e Ricerche per la Conservazione dei Beni Culturali e dal Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra dell’Università di Pavia. Il Congresso è rivolto a ricercatori ed a studiosi che operano nel settore dei Beni Culturali e si propone di presentare i più recenti sviluppi delle metodologie archeometriche così come i risultati ottenuti dalla loro applicazione a casi studio.
