The First European Mineralogical Conference (EMC2012 – planet earth from core to surface) will take place at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt, Germany, between 2-6 September 2012. The contributing societies presently are: DMG, MinSoc, ÖMG, SEM, SFMC, SIMP, SSMC. A number of the societies will combine EMC2012 with their annual meeting. Themes: 1) Mantle petrology and geochemistry 2) Magmatism 3) Metamorphism 4) Applied mineralogy 5) Clay mineralogy 6) Mineral physics 7) Planetary materials 8) Mineral deposits and raw materials 9) Low T geochemistry 10) Geochronology 11) Geobiochemistry 12) Advanced analytical techniques 13) Archaeometry, care and preservation 14) Open session ( see the flyer). The 18th International Conference on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry - SIMS XVIII, to be held in the beautiful location of Riva del Garda (Trento, Italy) from 18th to 23rd September 2011. The conference will be hosted by the Riva del Garda Fierecongressi conference centre, nicely located at the Garda LakeTMs shores. The conference will provide a forum for colleagues from both academia and industries throughout the World to exchange results and new ideas on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and related techniques. The conference will cover advancements of scientific knowledge from fundamentals to applications. Discussion on present possibilities and future developments of the technique, in view of the future requirements coming from technology and basic research, will be particularly solicited also with dedicated discussion sessions.

- MS91: “X-ray Absorption, Diffraction and Imaging in Forensic Sciences and Ancient Materials” Chairs: Simona Quartieri, Jean Susini.

Prague plays host to the Goldschmidt conference in August 2011. The Science Committee, chaired by Bernard Marty and Bernard Bourdon, have organised the themes and sessions for Goldschmidt2011, which incorporates many sessions submitted during the public "Call for Sessions". Abstract submission: 1st February - 15th April. Registration opens on 1st February 2011.
